Brief & High Intensity Counselling
Solution Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT)
Our Employee Assistance Programme (EAP)/workplace counselling provision is grounded in Solution Focused Brief Therapy. SFBT is ideal for the work environment as it’s:
- Short-term (normally 6 sessions) and evidence-based
- Future-focused and goal-orientated
- Incorporates positive psychology principles and practices
SFBT helps people to move forward by identifying solutions rather than dwelling on the problems that motivated them to seek help/therapy.
Lena’s therapists encourage and support clients to believe that change is possible by identifying the strengths, skills and resources they already possess, within or around them, to resolve the issue.

If I were to describe [Lena] to another business, I would highlight a company whose commitment to the provision of support on a 24/7/365 basis, has greatly enhanced our efforts to realise our strategic goal of Staff Support and Wellbeing.

High intensity therapy.
Lena provides specialist mental health interventions where people need more longer-term and/or in-depth support beyond the brief, solution-focused therapy provided through our EAP service.
Our high intensity therapists equip people with the tools and techniques they need to overcome complex problems related to intense anxiety, severe depression, the impact of trauma, or acute substance abuse problems.
Typically following a referral from HR or Occupational Health, we compassionately and empathetically carry out a standardised psychological assessment to identify the safest, most effective treatment approach/plan.
We apply the Stepped Care Model of service delivery, ensuring the person receives the most effective, but least intensive, treatment.
Expert care.
Lena’s therapists are experienced in multiple therapeutic modalities, are fully qualified and accredited with a relevant professional body, work in line with their relevant Code of Ethics, and adhere to professional standards and guidelines.
Lena has Ireland-wide clinical capacity to draw down from a suite of psychological therapeutic interventions grounded in best practice including (but not limited to):
- Solution Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT/SFT)
- Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)
- Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (TF-CBT)
- Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR for Trauma & PTSD)
- Person Centred Counselling
- Relationship/Couples Counselling
