Student Assistance Programmes
Your wellbeing partner for student support
Lena provides student wellbeing and counselling services to a large number of universities and colleges across Ireland. We have 20 years’ experience of operating in this field.
Like EAPs, Student Assistance Programmes (SAPs) offer mental health interventions for students dealing with personal and/or academic challenges. SAPs are often provided by universities and colleges as an extension of their own in-house student wellbeing services.

What does Lena’s SAP offer?
- Access to qualified counsellors for short-term therapy and support.
- A safe space for students to discuss issues confidentially without fear of judgment.
- A dedicated freephone 24/7/365 helpline via which students can get immediate support and/or be booked in for counselling.
- Access to digital resources including self-assessment and self-help tools via the student version of Lena’s Support Hub.
- Addresses a variety of concerns such as anxiety, low mood, relationship issues, exam stress, financial worries, legal queries, and more.
- Facilitates access to more specialised support and resources as needed.
What are the benefits?
Improved mental health
SAPs can help students better manage mental health challenges. This results in improved mood, motivation, and academic performance.
Reduced stress
SAPs can help students feel less overwhelmed and better equipped to handle life’s pressures.
Enhanced academic performance
By addressing students’ personal and/or academic worries we can improve their focus and ability to concentrate on their studies.
Overall wellbeing
SAPs contribute to a more positive and supportive learning environment, promoting students’ overall wellbeing.
