Random Acts of Kindness Day

It was created by the Random Acts of Kindness Foundation (RAKF) with the intention of encouraging people to spread joy, kindness and gratitude by undertaking thoughtful gestures, no matter how big or small.

A random act of kindness could be surprising a colleague with coffee and a bagel, complimenting somebody on a job well done, or placing a funny or motivational note on someone’s desk.

There are so many ways to join in, to take proactive steps to make kindness the norm, and to promote positive peer relationships in the workplace.

Visit the Random Acts of Kindness Foundation’s website and check out the ‘Kindness at Work’ section for more information and ideas on how you can get involved.

Why not consider becoming a ‘Distinguished Kindness Workplace’ and sign up to their Kindness Pledge – whereby your organisation formerly commits to incorporating kindness into daily actions whether it’s offering support to a colleague, showing respect in meetings, or spreading positivity throughout the workplace.

Random Acts of Kindness Foundation’s 7 steps to creating a kinder workplace:

01. Set the tone for what you expect from others

02. Model the behaviour you want to see – and feel

03. Create a safe and supportive environment

04. Foster strengths, learning from mistakes, and growth mindsets

05. Encourage trust, boundaries and belonging

06. Enhance communication and collaboration

07. Celebrate achievements and each other
